PERIMETER/SMART FENCE

APPLICATION AREA : For security purposes – physical fencing, elements to prevent break-ins to guarded facilities, both by individuals and by light or heavy vehicles, human and vehicle gates.

WELDED FENCE

For all our perimeter fence we use only high-quality metal, which complies with ISO – 9002 quality-control standards. The diameter of the fence’s wires is 4.5 mm (before galvanized), and the hot-dip galvanization is in accordance with highest quality standards. On top of the wall and the existing fence, a welded wire fence will be installed. The total height of the wire fence above the wall will be about 1.5 meter. First we install the fence’s posts. Every 3 meter a metal pole of 60*60 mm is held to the wall with special joints. The mesh is made of 4.5 mm. diameter steel wires in form of 50 * 150 mm. Square, and is attached to the poles with unique stainless-steel fasteners. All parts of the fence are hot-dip galvanized.

ELECTRIC FENCE

The electric fence posts are made of rigid fiberglass material; the fence-posts are attached to the wall or existing fence with special joints or spacers, at about 15 cm. from the wall, preferably at the inside of the perimeter. Every about 120 meter or a corner, must be an Anchor –post. An Anchor – post is a usually made of 3” metal pole and has two support beams to hold the tension of the fence’s wires between two Anchors and through the fence posts we stretch a number of steel wires. The numbers of wires differ from fence to fence, but as a rule, we place the wires at 10 cm. distance from each other. We recommend having the electric fence higher at least 0.5 meter then the wire mesh fence through the wires we run non-lethal, high voltage power. The electric fence is divided to zones, each about 300 m’ long. The power along the fence is monitored, and in case of change of the power, if one touches the wires or cutting it, an alarm is made.

SMART FENCE

The smart fence is a fence that used the VIPER detection system.  The VIPER is a stand-alone, big scale, perimeter intrusion detection system for protection of borders up to 800 meters per Single Controller. Based on Vibration Perimeter Fence Sensor technology (VIPER), the solution incorporates a Single Chip Microprocessor that allows it to detect and verify real intrusion events along perimeters up to 800 meters, with a resolution of ±10 meters and extremely low False Alarm Rate [F.A.R.].

System Functions

The VIPER can be programmed to alert security personnel of a

verified intrusion event by any of the following means:

  • Activation of a buzzer/audio alarm
  • Displays the distance of the event from the Central Control Unit
  • Dry contact relay that can activate Dialer, Radio Transmitter, Siren etc.
  • Indicate the location of event on an Area Map (Optional).
  • Activate dry contact relay for every 50-meter zone (Optional).
  • Send a message through RS-232 protocol (Optional).

THE SEPARATION SMART FENCE SECURITY CONCEPT

The system’s core components are Detection Sensors connected serially in Sensor Lines (1), Perimeter Control Units (2) and a PIDS Management Software Application (3). Communication between the Perimeter Control Units (PCUs) and the computer of the main C&C management System (4) is based on intrinsic RS-232 Protocol converted to F/O, LAN or any commercial communication standard, including copper wire, GSM, wireless, etc. (usually supplied with RJ-45 Ethernet connector for LAN communication).

VIPER Vibration Sensors

This Normally-Closed vibration sensor consists of four gold-plated metal cubes located between 2 electrical contacts. The cubes can move freely within the case, between contacts. Under standby conditions, the cubes close the electrical circuit between contacts. In the event of a disturbance occurring along the fence, potentially leading to an intrusion attempt, the consequential vibration causes the cubes to move, the electrical circuit briefly opens, resulting in a reflected pulse that is received by the Controller. The vibration data from each and all sensors is gathered by the controller and sent to the InSite C&C Program, where it is filtered and analyzed according to intrusion patterns to determine and verify an intrusion event happening in real time.

TDR Principle of Operation

The perimeter intrusion detection principle is based on Time Domain Reflectometer (TDR) analysis, also known as Reflected Wave Analysis, which functions similarly to a radar. Each Perimeter Control Unit (PCU) transmits electric pulses into the sensor line. When an intrusion attempt occurs along the perimeter, it is detected and located by a reflected pulse from the nearest sensors. The time delay between the transmitted and the reflected pulses determines the location of the event within ±3-10m resolution.

This TDR principle of operation is the basic logic and guideline for the different setup parameters, especially those related to detection and filtering. These parameters, such as the duration of time windows and the amount of prealarms required to generate an alarm / event, can be adjusted according to the required level of detection and filtering, as well as to best match the environmental factors and weather conditions.

The advanced Smart Fence system is based on proprietary vibration sensor lines. During intrusion attempts/events, the Vibration Sensors detect vibrations on the mesh and send the location of the event to the Perimeter Control Unit (PCU / Controller). The Vibration sensors are interconnected in two 500-750m long Sensor Lines (1,000-1,500m of sensor lines for each Controller). Each Vibration Sensor can detect vibrations in a radius of up to 6m, depending on the fence type and installation.
